2018 is the year when the Paris Motor Show embraces its new momentum.

If it is still the perfect place to renew one’s automobile dream, today, more than ever, its mission is to anticipate tomorrow’s technologies, new driving habits and usages and accompany the mutations of the automobile and service industries.

Therefore the 2018 Paris Motor Show introduces Mondial.Tech.

This event is dedicated to technological innovations for automobiles and tomorrow’s mobility. Its name: MONDIAL.TECH.

Automobile manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, Tech giants and start-ups deepen their collaboration to shape the future of transportation and mobility.

MONDIAL.TECH will take place from October 2 to 6 (Media and VIP pre-opening on the 1st with a high-level keynote session). MONDIAL.TECH will be an exchange platform for the stakeholders of the industry, bringing together all the managers and experts in charge of innovation in the sector with representatives of the government, the financial sector and the media.

Its mission: to tighten the links between the players of the automobile industry and those of tomorrow’s mobility, to bring together a wider ecosystem.

In the context of this event, the Paris Motor Show is organizing an international start- up competition https://mondial.tech/ as well as conferences and thematical workshops with international speakers.

The MONDIAL.TECH Startup Awards

The MONDIAL.TECH Startup Awards will be the biggest competition between start- ups from the entire world, dedicated to the automobile and future mobility industries, organized in partnership with the Startup Sésame network.

Selected among several hundred candidates from thirty or so countries in the world, 64 finalist start-ups will be asked to present their pitch and exhibit at the MONDIAL.TECH show.

They will thus meet all the ecosystem: manufacturers, equipment manufacturers and tech providers and will have the opportunity to create solid business connections. They will compete in the 8 innovation themes of the industrial sector:

  1. Sustainable Mobility
  2. Electrification & hybridization
  3. Material & weight reduction
  4. On-board comfort
  5. Storage and energy systems
  6. Connectivity and ITS
  7. Safety, automatization and cyber security
  8. Industry 4.0

During the summer, 8 start-ups in each of the 8 themes, i.e. 64 start-ups altogether, will be chosen as finalists and asked to present during the Show their pitches, in front of an international jury of experts, business owners, investors and major players of the industry.

This jury will vote for a winner in each of the 8 themes and among them, the final Award winner will be selected.

The 64 finalists will be invited to exhibit in the DEMO ZONE MONDIAL.TECH, a sort of immersive circuit shaped like a maze which can be visited by pre-organized appointment and in groups of 8 to 12 people accompanied by a member of the TEAM organization, the 1st expertise network of the automobile sector. The TEAMers’ priority will be to solicit the Strategy, Innovation, Research & Development, Design services of the automobile manufacturers and equipment manufacturers of their network, in France and abroad, to accompany them during these organized visits on site. The finalists will thus be certain to meet future strategic partners, qualified to offer them precious openings.

Pitching sessions will take place on the RING MONDIAL.TECH, an innovative room equipped with a ring-shaped stage, opened on all four sides. DELOITTE as MONDIAL.TECH’s knowledge partner- oversees the organization of the events of this room.

They will take place in 8 half-days, from the morning of Tuesday 2nd to the afternoon of Friday 5th. Each half-day will be devoted to one of the 8 innovation themes of the sector. These half-days will all be scheduled identically, starting with an expertise review, followed by a panel-discussion between the members of the jury, the 8 finalists’ pitch presentations (for each finalist 3 minutes of presentation followed by 2 minutes of questions from the jury) then the interview of an impartial observer and, to finish, the designation of the award winner and the award ceremony.

Each of the 8 themes will have a sponsor who will publicly commit to exploring a collaboration with the winning start-up (incubation, acceleration or deployment).

The schedule will end on Friday night with the grand finale: the designation of the overall winner in all categories and a high-level panel-discussion with the CEOs of major industrial or service groups which have faced disruption in their sectors.

The « SIDE EVENTS » of MONDIAL.TECH

MONDIAL.TECH positions itself as a community and content aggregator. Therefore, in addition to its own program, the show develops strategic partnerships with specialized players.

ELECTRIC-ROAD

Considering itself as an interface allowing a faster deployment of clean mobility for all types of transportation and having already organized many conventions, the organization ELECTRIC-ROAD will represent during MONDIAL.TECH the road of the future. It will offer the sector the themes of its ecosystem composed of national and international experts. Conferences, exhibitions, demonstrations, expertise and exclusivities will shape the electric axle of the new MONDIAL.TECH platform.

Its baseline is “Electric streets and roads: from vision to application”. Electric-Road@Mondial.Tech will take up a zone of about twenty stands with a specific conference room.

LAVAL VIRTUAL

With an area of over 750m2 and exhibitors from all over the planet, Laval Virtual, leader in new technologies and virtual use, will create an event at the heart of Mondial.Tech. By joining this initiative, Laval Virtual’s goal is to present the latest automobile innovations in Virtual and Enhanced Realities.

MANY OTHER PROGRAMS WILL BE REVEALED PROGRESSIVELY

During these 5 days, MONDIAL.TECH is also preparing a day of meetings between Israeli Tech and the European automobile industry, a program on data for automobile commercialization networks, a program dedicated to the communication strategies of the makes regarding connected and autonomous vehicles, as well as a Franco- German meeting, co-organized with the metropolitan region of Hanover– Braunschweig – Göttingen – Wolfsburg. A detailed program will be provided later.

ENGINEERING STUDENTS AND MILLENIALS

Youngsters will also take part in the MONDIAL.TECH festivities:

  • –  On Thursday October 4, the operation MYJOB@FUTURAUTO, a day dedicated to the sector, specifically for students in engineering schools;
  • –  Saturday October 6, a day for a wider public, mostly youngsters, to study the future of mobility and promote the attractiveness of these professional activities.

THE CES® AT THE PARIS MOTOR SHOW!

« Last but not least! »: to mark the launch of MONDIAL.TECH, the Paris Motor Show is happy to welcome a special guest, the most important technological show in the World, the CES® – Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show.

Gary Shapiro, President and CEO of the Consumer Technology Association, owner and organizer of the CES® will be the keynote speaker in the pre-opening conference of Monday October 1st 2018.
